Kim Ball, the new Upper School Associate Director of Student Life, is not a stranger to the Collegiate community. For the past 20 years, she has been involved in college counseling, with all but three of those years at Collegiate. She’s worked with hundreds of students in grades 9-12 and helped them with their college process.
While she loved her job as a college counselor, she wanted to do something different. This year, she began her new role as Associate Director of Student Life, while also working with the Senior class to finish out their college applications. She explained that “balancing both jobs was tricky,” but she wanted to remain a counselor for this year’s Seniors.
Ball described the college admissions processes as “extremely volatile,” which can cause stress for many students and parents. Ball wanted to interact with students more frequently, so joining the Student Life team was the perfect opportunity. As a college counselor, her meetings with students would sometimes be stressful, but now she gets to see students in a more joyful setting. She can contribute more to traditions like Pageant and graduation. She also explained that she enjoys attending more school events, such as Oddball. Ball is excited to embark on a new journey and immerse herself more in student life and the Collegiate community.
