The Match caught up with Malcolm Pace (‘24), a Senior at Collegiate, who is making his way past the troubles of Senior year. He says he is enjoying it now, but “getting past the college applications and things like the Senior Speech takes a big weight off your shoulders.” On the topic of college applications, he mentioned that the college counselors have made an impact in some ways: “The deadlines they provided have been helpful.” When asked about the academic workload, Pace said there is “less work and more freedom.” He feels that the faculty is “very helpful,” in the lens of academics, but also in a way of connecting with them. He says, “it’s awesome to know they are always there to support you in any context.”
He is a lifer here at Collegiate and says that Collegiate has been an awesome experience for him. It’s “the community. Everyone has a relationship with each other, and wherever you go, you’ll be around your boys.” Pace plays football, basketball and baseball, specializing in pitching. Multiple college coaches have reached out to him about playing baseball, but he continues to deny them. When asked why, he says “I’ve played travel baseball for a few years of my life, and I’ve always preferred school over travel. I feel as though college baseball would compare more to travel, and I am looking for an authentic college experience.”
