If you’ve ever seen a blur of energy walking through the hallways between classes, chances are it was Upper School Director of Student Life Beth Kondorossy. I caught up with one day last month about her life within the Collegiate community, and in true form, she was multitasking.
Kondorossy, an Upper School administrator who also coaches track and field, told me she was working on selecting Upper School students to serve as panelists for upcoming 8th Grade Advisory meetings. She was pulling students from various study halls to avoid disrupting classes. Her goal was to choose students from different groups and backgrounds to reflect a wide range of experiences in our school community. These 8th Grade panelists would inform and guide incoming Freshmen about the Upper School and what to expect.
“I want 8th Graders to hear from all types of students,” she said. She described how athletes, artists, student leaders, and kids who’ve found their place here in different ways are all valuable voices for the panelist board.
Outside the classroom, Kondorossy is best known for coaching track, but she’s also stepping into something new this summer. She is excited to enroll her own kids in team sports for the first time, starting with summer swimming. She describes how she has avoided team sports for a while but is eager to dive into them this summer.
Whether she’s racing down the hallway, coaching on the field, or finding ways to help students, Kondorossy brings the same energy and thoughtfulness to everything she does. Although she always seems to be in motion, everything she does has a purpose.
